Akshaya Thoutam

Akshaya is a Pre-doctoral research assistant in the BioML Group at Microsoft Research. She holds a BS in Neuroscience from Georgia Tech with a minor in Health and Medical sciences. Akshaya’s research interests lie at the intersection of computational biology, neuroscience, genomics, and immunology. She hopes to leverage machine learning to better understand systems biology and improve the treatment and diagnosis of disease. Outside of research, Akshaya is a huge foodie who enjoys to blog about new places she has tried. She also enjoys philosophy, spending time outdoors, and reading. Originally from Tampa Florida, Akshaya is deluded by the aesthetic of snow, but in reality is not ready for a Boston winter.
